Sabine Högerl, born and raised in Munich, discovered her passion for beauty and styling at an early age. As a child, she would put makeup on her Barbies and stuffed animals, determined to become a beautician—unaware that the profession of makeup artist even existed. After completing her studies at a business school, she trained at “Lipperts Friseure” in Munich and, upon finishing her training, moved to Münsterland.
However, hairdressing alone wasn’t enough for her, and her desire to become a makeup artist grew stronger. In 2013, she moved to Paris to pursue formal training as a makeup artist. After returning to Münsterland, she reached out to numerous photographers to build her portfolio, knowing that she was destined for more. Her first big opportunity came when a friend who modeled for *Playboy* recommended her as the hair and makeup artist for a cover shoot.
A key milestone in her career was working on a major campaign in Kenia. Early on, Sabine realized the power of Instagram and used the platform to promote her work digitally. In 2017, she moved to Cologne, applying to various agencies while also independently contacting photographers and editors. This eventually led to her breakthrough, as she began collaborating with well-known photographers and editors.
In 2019, Sabine went to Cape Town, where she completed 16 editorials in just six weeks during the pandemic. She successfully pitched these editorials to various magazines, leading to her work being published in renowned outlets such as “Vogue”, “InStyle”, “Harper’s Bazaar”, and “Grazia”. During the first lockdown, she spent three months in Berlin, working with brands like “About You” and “Zalando”.
Her career continued to expand internationally, with projects in Mexico and Cape Town. Despite the long hours, she managed to handle even the most challenging projects with the support of a strong team. In 2021, she was given the opportunity to exclusively style a well-known actress at the Venice Film Festival. By 2022, she had firmly established herself in the film industry, working on global productions and with major brands such as Porsche.
Sabine Högerl’s personal motto is:
“Don’t change people, but bring out what they see in themselves.”
Her signature style—natural beauty—defines her work and is what she considers her true art.©norakahn
